Dunhill's Zodiac series has been running since 2011, with each iteration celebrating a member of the Chinese Zodiac, with this 2024 edition being the Dragon, the fifth in the sequence. Representing the Dragon here is this "02" bent Billiard, a sinuous and timeless profile with a sweeping curvature about it that urges the bowl forward and poises this piece for comfortable smoking. The shank is trim and neatly upturned, giving the stummel a tightly knit transition, its balanced Group 3 size ensuring that there is enough room to drape a thumb. At the shank end, we see a broad band of silver which is engraved with the profile of the regal reptilian this pipe is named after, contrasting beautifully with the earthy sandblast of the County sandblast, keeping the look of this piece rather rugged and pastoral. Although serialized out of 318, only 259 pipes were actually fashioned in this finish, with each example containing the number "4" being omitted due to the number's negative connotation in Chinese numerology. Coming complete with a leather carry pouch that's embossed with its own handsome dragon motif, this pipe is sure to elevate any New Years festivities.

Like the Cumberland finish, Dunhill's County line pairs rich, cumberland stems with delightfully textured sandblasts. Typically, County pieces wear a lighter stain, often falling between the Cumberland and Tanshell hues, and since its introduction in 1986, with only a brief hiatus, the County remains stalwart within Dunhill's portfolio, especially desired by lovers of brindled vulcanite and warm sandblasts.
